ATLANTA (October 12, 2017) | Sen. Bruce Thompson (R–White) hosted the first meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Cyber Security Education on Wednesday, October 11, in Augusta.
“The cyber world is growing at a fast pace,” said Sen. Thompson. “Therefore, it is important to educate our youth at an even faster pace. Cyber security is such an important issue and so many people look past some of the things that hackers are capable of doing. After speaking and spending time with leaders, educators and students in Augusta this week, I look forward to seeing what resources we can provide for students across Georgia to enhance their education on cyber security.”
Senator Thompson hopes to see progress similar to that of programs in Augusta, which highlight cyber security education, all across the state. In the meeting, speakers discussed initiatives to encourage students’ interest in cyber security, training programs offered to educators and different ways Augusta University has worked with organizations to bring education and awareness to the importance of cyber security.
