ATLANTA (March 16, 2017) | Senator Bruce Thompson (R – White) presented Jeff McCord with Senate Resolution 268 during the Senate Science and Technology Committee meeting Thursday. SR 268 honors Mr. McCord for his public service and work on improving cyber security throughout the state.

“Jeff is truly an amazing Georgian who has dedicated so much of his time and energy working to make our state the best it can be,” said Sen. Thompson. “Throughout his time with the Georgia Technology Authority, he has had a positive impact on cyber security and technological infrastructure initiatives in Georgia. I am thankful to know Jeff and I look forward to working with him in the coming years.”

McCord started his career as an intern in the Governor’s office while he was a student at Georgia State University. He played a key role in drafting the legislation that created the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), which went into effect in 2001. He served as the Director of Government Affairs for GTA for 12 years where he ensured technological infrastructure such as data centers, networks and telecommunications were effectively operated, managed and secured. McCord also served on the Senate Data Privacy and Security Study Committee in 2016 and was instrumental in crafting the final recommendations which ultimately became part of Governor Nathan Deal’s State of the State address.
