Senator Bruce Thompson (R – White) represents District 14 in the State Senate, which is comprised of parts of Bartow, Cherokee and Cobb counties. The district includes Adairsville, Allatoona, Canton, Cartersville, Waleska, White and parts of Holly Springs.
Coming from humble beginnings, Bruce grew up working on a farm, and was operating large machinery by the age of 11. After attending Montana State University on a wrestling scholarship, Bruce served for four years in the U.S. Military as a tank commander. Today he owns insurance agencies, software businesses, an automatic pool covering business, and is in the process of starting new ventures. He employs over 50 people in District 14.
First elected in 2013, Bruce filled the resigned seat of now-Congressman Barry Loudermilk. Bruce was re-elected without opposition in 2014, and began his second term on January 12, 2015.
Bruce and his wife Becky have been married for 18 years. They have two children, Faith (15) and Max (10). They attend Cartersville First Baptist Church, where Bruce is a Deacon.
